Meet Deb- Pelican Shores Village Manager

Pelican Shores Estate welcomed Village Manager, Deb Wines, in early 2025, and she has quickly embraced village life with warmth, energy and experience.

Background and Experience
Deb’s career has taken her from managing a store in a Northern Territory Indigenous community to overseeing Lake Munmorah Lifestyle Village for Hampshire Villages, who own Pelican Shores and many other villages around Australia. She has also spent four years on Christmas Island organising activities for detainees, taught English in Vietnam, and volunteers in Cambodia — a personal passion.

Life at Pelican Shores
Deb describes the village as peaceful, friendly and welcoming, with plenty of optional activities through the Social Club. Residents look out for each other, and the natural setting — complete with pelicans and black swans — adds to the charm.

A Day in the Village
No day is the same. Deb manages emails, calls, resident enquiries and tasks from management, alongside village walk-arounds. She oversees new and pre-loved home sales, hosts tours, and handles everything from booking in village tours through to settlement.

Homes & Lifestyle
The village offers a mix of brand-new and pre-loved homes, each with its own character. Some have bay views, others are nestled in gardens. Low-maintenance designs suit downsizers and travellers alike, offering security, comfort and community support.

Community Connection
The Social Club runs weekly activities and there’s Monday Men’s Lunch, Wednesday Bike Riding, craft club, darts, bowling and even line dancing, which is a great success. There’s Friday Happy Hour, a monthly movie night, a Facebook group and a resident newsletter. A highlight is the Christmas concert on the village green and management hosts regular lunches to stay connected with residents.

Highlights & Improvements
Deb prioritises getting to know residents and supporting their needs. Recent upgrades include improved mail room security, new resident gate entry pin pads, extended office hours and a monthly manager newsletter. New umbrellas on the village green being installed just in time for Christmas will be a great addition for the residents to enjoy.

Our garden club do a great job for our community and it is so awesome to receive fresh veges from them to take home.

Looking Ahead to 2026
Upcoming improvements include updating some house numbers so that they are in sequence with the rest of the village and installing a clearer village map for emergency services, along with several garden upgrades.

What Visitors Say
Visitors often comment on the peace, the bay views and the well-kept grounds. The boardwalk and views to Avalon Airport — especially during the Airshow — are particular favourites.
